CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS AND PLAYERS

Code of Conduct applies to all Players and Parents of Registered Junior/Youth/Auskick Players

  • Encourage children to participate, stay positive on and off the field.

  • Encourage children to always participate according to the rules of AFL Victoria and the Club. Assist them in knowing what is a good sportsman.

  • Never ridicule, put down or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game. Our club believes that every child should have fun and enjoy the game as the most important priority.

  • Remember that children learn best from example. Applaud good plays by all teams.

  • If you or your child disagree with an Official, raise the issue through the appropriate channels, rather than questioning the Official’s judgement. Keep the matter private to ensure it can be dealt with fairly and with respect.

  • Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.

  • Recognise the value and importance of volunteer Coaching staff and Officials. They work for free!

  • Remember that your children play organised sports for fun. They are not playing for the entertainment of spectators only, nor are they miniature professionals. Our club believes in encouragement not discouragement.

  • Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, officials, or players. The club has a ‘no tolerance’ policy on violence and aggression. Any aggression in front of the player will result in parents being asked to leave the ground.

  • Encourage players to follow the rules and umpires’ decisions.

  • Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not using foul language, harassing players, coaches, or umpires. Remember this is a junior football club and inappropriate behaviour will result in your asked to leave the ground. Remember you are a role model.
