TICK, TICK… BOOM!
What an electrifying start to the 2025 season! Our opening round was nothing short of outstanding, and we couldn’t be more proud of the incredible energy and passion shown yesterday.
A huge congratulations to all the clubs who hit the ground running yesterday. The level of commitment, teamwork, and community spirit was on full display—and it’s only just the beginning!
Behind every season is a mountain of effort. From forming teams and coaching staff, electing dedicated committees, setting up clubrooms, and managing fixtures—your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.
A heartfelt thank you to AFL South East and South East Juniors for your support and coordination in arranging the fixtures. We are so grateful to be part of such a strong, vibrant football community.
NWJFC lit up Sweeney Reserve this weekend with all 8 teams playing at home—and though it was a whirlwind of energy, we wouldn’t have it any other way. The sidelines were packed, the cheers were loud, and the spirit was electric. You could feel the love for the game in every high-five, every goal, and every mark.
Our stands were bursting with support—parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, best friends, and yes, even the four-legged fans came out in full force.
In a moment of profound unity and respect, each team stood side by side with their opponents to honor our Anzacs. As the haunting notes of the Last Post echoed through the stands, a reverent silence fell across the crowd—a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by so many. We stood together in that silence, hearts full, before the New Zealand National Anthem rang out, connecting us in shared remembrance. Then, to mark this day with even greater meaning, we were graced by a live performance of the Australian National Anthem by Tanjil and Sierra Adams. Their angelic voices didn’t just fill the air—they filled our hearts, stirring something deep within every soul present. It was a tribute worthy of the brave, and a moment we will carry with us always.
Our U8s stepped onto the field for the first time, buzzing with nerves and joy—it was pure magic watching their faces light up!
The U9s were fired up and ready, and we can’t wait to see their teamwork and determination come to life.
Our U10s brought the heat with some thrilling moves, proving they’re here to make a statement! They had a solid four quarters.
Our U11s have been putting in the work this preseason, and it’s paying off—what a difference in their game already! Watch out to any teams they are up against.
The U12s, fresh off an Elimination Final last season, showed grit and brilliant teamwork that had us all cheering. Definitely a team to keep an eye on this year.
And our Premiership-winning U13s? They’ve stepped it up again—stronger, fitter, sharper and with some new faces, this team is ready for the 2025 season. Congratulations to Jack Sutton who played his 50th game.
The U14 Girls are on fire! After a physically tough preseason, these young athletes are showing they mean business and absolutely thriving! Congratulations to Millie Webb who played her 50th game.
And our U14s—Grand Final runners-up last year—are back and stronger than ever! With bigger numbers and a serious physical upgrade, this team is ready to dominate!
