Round 3 in Review

What a magical day it was at Sweeney Reserve! We hope every one of our incredible mums felt the love and appreciation they deserve—early game or not! The heart of the club beat a little stronger and brighter this weekend, as the sidelines were filled with proud smiles, warm hugs, and a few well-earned coffees, and the kids all wearing pink socks to raise awareness for Breast Cancer 🎀

It was more than just footy—it was a celebration of the women who cheer the loudest, give the most, and make it all possible.

Our Under 8s, 9s, and 10s hit the field bright and early at 8:45am, with the frost still sparkling on the grass! But the cold didn’t stand a chance—not with our passionate young players bringing the heat and the sideline full of cheering mums bringing the energy! Every team showed heart, hustle, and unstoppable determination. Week by week, they’re getting stronger, faster, and more thrilling to watch!

Next up—our mighty Under 11s and Under 12s! These legends kicked off their games with big smiles and warm hugs for their mums—what better way to celebrate Mother’s Day!

Our U11s were an absolute force—tight teamwork, smart plays, and relentless pressure! They delivered a stellar performance and sealed the deal with a victory over Narre North Foxes: 5 .7 .37 v 2 .4 .16. A win dedicated straight to the mums!

Our U12s faced a fierce opponent in Officer and rose to the challenge with fast, slick handballs and impressive efficiency. Though the scoreboard didn’t go their way (7 .8 .50 v 1 .0 .6), their spirit, fight, and sharp skills were undeniable. They’ll be back stronger and hungrier next week!”

Our Under 13s kicked things off in style, proudly unveiling a Mother’s Day banner to honour the incredible women who support them every step of the way. The celebrations didn’t stop there – the team rallied around Angus Sargent for his milestone 50th game – what a legend!

Fuelled by emotion, adrenaline, and pure team spirit, the U13s stormed the field, against Carrum Patterson Lakes. Their blazing speed, sharp skills, and next-level teamwork were unstoppable. This team came to play – and boy, did they deliver!

Final score: 16 . 8 .104 v 1 .0 .6 – total domination!

Our U14 Girls were up next in a fiery clash against a tough Pines side. From the first bounce, it was clear our girls came ready to battle. Despite a few injuries and relentless pressure, they never backed down – showing grit, heart, and resilience right to the final siren. Pines may have taken the win, but our girls earned every ounce of respect.

Final score: 2 .5 .17 v 1 .0 .6

With the golden afternoon sun shining down, our Under 14s were pumped and primed for battle! From the opening bounce, they brought relentless pressure, fearless tackles, and a whole lot of heart.

Despite their determined effort and tight defensive play, Karingal managed to sneak ahead in a hard-fought match.

Final score: 3 .6 .24 v 10 .6 .66

No win on the scoreboard, but plenty of pride in their performance – then, it was time to head home, kick off the boots, and spend some well-deserved quality time with their amazing mums.

What a way to wrap up a big day of footy!

We hope all our incredible mums, nanas, aunties, and cherished friends felt the love and joy they so deeply deserve on Sunday. Your kindness, strength, and endless support make our world brighter every single day.

To all the amazing dads – thank you for stepping up, showing up, and giving our mums the chance to relax and be celebrated. You made the day extra special, and we’re so grateful.

And to our dedicated committee members – your hard work, heart, and unwavering commitment don’t go unnoticed. Thank you all.

And don’t forget – you can still donate to the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) and help support life-changing research for a cause that touches so many women and families every year. Every bit counts in helping find a cure.
